When do you need dental crown or bridge?

"Many patients opt for the high aesthetic Ivoclar E-max crowns and bridges which offer the best aesthetic result. Thanks to the large number fitted at the clinic we can offer the crowns and bridges for a significantly lower price." Dr. Susan Revesz

Porcelain (ceramic) crowns (also known as caps) and bridges are commonly used in dentistry to restore damaged, broken teeth or replace missing teeth. To achieve the best aesthetic result, at Innovative Dental Care we only use superior materials to produce crowns and bridges. You may opt for the common porcelain bonded crown/bridge, which is made of high quality porcelain with a non visible inner frame made of an anti allergic metal alloy. For a more natural and better aesthetic result you may also opt for completely metal free crowns and bridges.

Innovative Dental Care uniquely offers different metal free restorations for the same discounted price. We use Ivoclar E-max premium quality pressed ceramic for crowns, bridges and veneers as well. This material is proven to guarantee the best aesthetic result especially in the prominent front area. As an alternative we also offer Zirconium crowns and bridges for the same price.

Dental Crowns will improve the aesthetic function and overall health of your mouth.

The perfect way to strengthen and protect damaged, cracked or worn teeth

Porcelán korona

A porcelain crown restores any tooth that is destroyed or damaged. It is individually made to match the shade and contour of your natural teeth, so practically no one can tell the difference. The tooth is ground down far enough so that a new crown can be placed on the remaining, healthy natural tooth structure. This provides a strong, natural foundation for the new crown.

When do you need a porcelain crown?

  • To strengthen a decayed, cracked or broken tooth.
  • To protect a tooth that's at risk for cracking. This measure helps to prevent problems such as pain and/or the need for a root canal.
  • To improve the appearance of the tooth.
  • To improve the cleansibility of a tooth.
  • After a tooth has root canal therapy.
Porcelán híd

A porcelain bridge is used to replace any tooth that is missing or beyond repair. It is individually made to match the shade and contour of your natural teeth, so practically no one can tell the difference. This bridge consists of high-strength dental ceramic. Built with natural-looking replacement teeth, it is anchored to the adjacent teeth. To secure the bridge, the adjacent teeth must be reduced in size.

Dental bridge benefits!

  • A fixed bridge is stationary. You don't need to take it out at night.
  • It looks like your natural teeth.
  • It's comfortable and doesn't move when you're chewing.
  • It anchors and supports your neighbouring teeth; keeps teeth aligned; and restores your mouth to a level of prevention.

Pressed Ceramic - Ivoclar E-max crowns/bridges

At Innovative Dental Care clinic Ivoclar E-max ceramic is used to prepare crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and veneers. This material is the so called pressed ceramic, which is completely metal free, and more durable and stress resistant than other materials used in dentistry. It is in the highest aesthetic category of cosmetic dental appliances, as it's shades, structure, glaze, and translucency makes it indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Zirconium crowns/bridges

Zirconium was introduced to dentistry to replace common metal alloy frames in crowns and other dental appliances. The advantage of Zirconium is that it has a light colour and it is durable. Just like pressed ceramic, Zirconium is also considered to have a higher aesthetic value. At Innovative Dental Clinic all metal free crowns are at the same affordable price.

Frequently asked questions:

What is a crown?

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is sometimes known as a ‘cap’.

Why would I need a crown?

Crowns are an ideal restoration for teeth that have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. A crown could be used for a number of other reasons, for instance: you may have discoloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth you may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect it it may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.

What is a post crown?

In root-filled teeth it may be necessary to insert a post before placing a crown. A post provides support and helps the crown stay in place. The weakened crown of the tooth is drilled off at the level of the gum. A post can be made of prefabricated stainless steel which the dentist can fit directly into the root canal, to help secure the crown, or a custom-made post can be constructed by the dental technician to accurately fit the shape of the prepared root canal. The post is placed into the root canal and cemented in position, ready for the crown to be attached.

Are there any alternatives to post crowns for root-filled teeth?

If a root-filled tooth is not completely broken down, it may be possible to build it up again using filling material. This ‘core’ is then prepared in the same way as a natural tooth and the impressions are taken.

What is a crown made of?

Crowns can be made of a variety of different materials and new materials are continually being introduced. Some of the most popular options are listed below. Porcelain bonded to precious metal or non-precious metal: this is what most crowns are made of. A metal base is made and then porcelain is applied in layers over it. Porcelain crowns: these crowns are made entirely out of porcelain and are not as strong as bonded crowns, but they can look very natural and are most often used for front teeth. All-ceramic crowns: this modern technique offers a metal-free alternative, which can give the strength of a bonded crown and the appearance of a porcelain crown. Therefore it is suitable for use in all areas of the mouth. Porcelain and composite: porcelain and composite resin materials can sometimes look the most natural. However, these crowns are not as strong as bonded metal crowns. Glass: these crowns look very natural and are used on both front and back teeth. Gold alloy crowns: gold is one of the oldest filling materials. Today it is used with other metal alloys to increase its strength, which makes it a very hardwearing restoration. These crowns are white or gold in colour.

Why should I replace missing teeth?

Your appearance is one reason. Another is that the gap left by a missing tooth can mean greater strain is put on the teeth at either side. A gap can also mean your ‘bite’ is affected, because the teeth next to the space can lean into the gap and alter the way the upper and lower teeth bite together. This can then lead to food getting packed into the gap, which causes both decay and gum disease.

How are missing teeth replaced?

This depends on the number of teeth missing and on where they are in the mouth. The condition of the other teeth also affects the decision. There are three main ways to replace the missing teeth. The first is with a removable false tooth or teeth – a partial denture. The second is with a fixed bridge. The third one is with an implant. A bridge is usually used where there are fewer teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth.

What is a partial denture?

This is a plate with a number of false teeth on it. It may be all plastic or a mixture of metal and plastic. Both types may have clips (clasps), to help keep the denture in place in the mouth. Depending on where they are, some of these clips may show when you smile or open your mouth.

What are the replacement teeth made of?

Usually plastic, and occasionally porcelain. Each replacement tooth is made specially, to get the right shape, colour and size for you.

What is the difference between a plastic partial denture and one that contains metal?

Plastic partial dentures are less expensive to make. But unless they are designed very carefully they can damage the teeth they fit against. Metal partial dentures are usually lighter to wear and can be supported by the remaining teeth. Although the base is metal, they have gum-coloured plastic and natural-looking teeth fixed to them.
